GREEN SEA TURTLES

Chelonia mydas

One of the seven sea turtle species, green turtles travel all the warm oceans and seas around the globe, however, they only lay their eggs in just a handful of beaches. Females reaching up to 1.5 metres when fully grown, they return to nest specifically where they hatched from a ping-pong ball sized egg... usually decades ago. Green turtles have outlived the dinosaurs, also a mass extinction on the planet, but today due to growing human presence and impact on most shores mean that the future generations are in more danger than ever.
