TIGER

Panthera tigris

The largest of all cats, the sub-species of tigers are named according to their geographical location. The colour, shade and the pattern of their fur also differ in each habitat. The stripes are ment to camouflage them in the woods, resembling streaks of shadow. Once spread throughout Asia, now they are forced into small human-free spots in India and the south-eastern corners of the continent, all in devastatingly low numbers. There are far more tigers in captivity than free ones left in the wild. After centuries of being hunted for trophy and their fur, illegally traded as false rumors spread about their medicinal qualities, we are on the brink of losing them altogether.
